Which models your organization uses
In Organization → Models you decide which models people at your company can use, up to what effort, and which one a new chat starts on. Changes reach chats within a minute.
Model access
Section titled “Model access”Each model has a row with three controls:
- Enabled: off, the model no longer appears in the chat’s model selector. A conversation that used it continues on the default model. You can’t turn off the last model that’s on, or the one you pinned as the default.
- Maximum effort: the highest reasoning level each person can ask for. No limit lets them pick any. A model that doesn’t respond to effort levels shows Not available.
- Available to: which roles use it. It defaults to All roles (see below).
More effort usually gives better answers to hard problems, but it takes longer and uses more credits.
The model marked Also writes chat titles and summaries keeps writing them even when you turn it off or it isn’t available to someone’s role.
Available to
Section titled “Available to”Each model’s Available to column says which roles use it. It defaults to All roles: everyone sees it. Choosing roles is an explicit action, and it only reaches the members whose role type is set to Custom (see Groups and roles).
- Whoever isn’t Custom uses every enabled model, whatever this column says.
- A Custom member sees the enabled models that are set to All roles plus the ones that share one of their roles.
- A Custom member with no roles sees only the models set to All roles.
Deleting a role takes it off the models it was available to; a model left with no roles goes back to All roles.
Default model
Section titled “Default model”It’s the model a new chat starts on. Everyone can switch it whenever they want.
- Use Nouter’s recommended defaults: nouter picks the model and the effort, and updates them when we add models.
- Choose a specific model and effort level: you pin both and they don’t change on their own.
With a pinned model, Always start with the default model and effort level appears. Off, each person starts a new chat on what they used last. On, every new chat starts on the model and effort you pinned, and anyone can change them within that chat.
Everyone sees the effort in the chat’s model selector (see Writing a request).
